It's a Mom Thing Reviews & More!: DIY Tree Ornament

DIY Tree Ornament

With Christmas now less than two weeks away Mia and I wanted to make some ornaments for her to give to family as a small gift. We decided to make tree ornaments! They are so simple and so cute! I just had to keep one for myself because they look so beautiful on the tree.

Popsicle sticks (standard size)
Green paint & a paint brush
Gems (you could use pom poms or buttons too)
Strong glue (we love Tacky Glue)
We also used brown paint for the stump but you could leave it natural

Before you are ready to do your craft take some time to paint all of the popsicle sticks green (and some brown if you choose). It only took ours about twenty minutes to dry after painting them. We used a total of 6 green popsicle sticks for tree. Cut off pieces of the end to make it staggering sizes. We used the smaller pieces cut off of the end to make the top of the tree! Once you have all of your sizes cut attach some glue to the brown stick and glue the green sticks on! Give a few minutes to allow the glue to dry.

Once the glue on the trees is completely dry it is time to add your decorations! Mia told me where she wanted to put each gem and I put a dot of glue down for her. Once all of the gems were attached we gave the tree another twenty minutes to fully dry. Once it was dry it was time to add a string. We put a dab of glue on the back to attach the string. We let that dry a bit, wrote her name and the year on the back, and then packaged up our ornaments! (Of course I kept ours on the tree!)

I love that these ornaments are so simple to make and so cute!
Our family is going to love these handmade gifts from Mia!

  1. I think you did a great job. We did something very similar recently with our popsicle sticks. Madison has been in a crafting frenzy lately and there is so much you can do with popsicle sticks.
