One of my favorite things growing up was spending the weekends with my grandparents. My father passed away when I was very young but I was lucky enough to get to know how wonderful he was through spending each weekend with his parents. Every Saturday morning my grandfather would wake up and we would each have a bowl of Cheerios™ and chat. My grandmother would always walk into the kitchen a bit later and join us. I loved my weekends with my grandparents and Cheerios™ were an important part of it.

I’m really excited about the new Buy a Box, Gift a Free Box campaign! For a limited time when you buy specially marked boxes of Cheerios™ at Walmart, you can give a box to someone that you love!

I will be gifting a box of Cheerios™ to my grandmother. I think that it would be a great way to show her that even though I am older now and my grandfather is no longer with us, I still remember our Saturday mornings sitting around the table having breakfast together.

Giving the gift of Cheerios™ is easy! All that you have to do is visit the website listed on the sticker and enter in your entry code! You can then create an e-card to mail to a friend or family member. Once they receive the e-card they enter their info and in the mail they will receive a coupon for a box of Cheerios™! I love the idea that while I am enjoying Cheerios™ my friends and family can be enjoying them with me, even if we aren't together at the time!

I love Cheerios™, they have been my favorite since I was a child! While I love enjoying a bowl for breakfast, I could eat them by the handful. When my daughter was smaller we always carried them everywhere with us! They were a perfect wholesome snack for on the road or while we were out shopping. There are tons of other uses for Cheerios™ too, like one my favorite ways that reminds me of my grandparents, in granola bars!

We absolutely love granola bars in my house. We are constantly going through boxes of them so I love making my own since it is a fraction of the cost. One of my favorite ingredients to make granola bars with are Cheerios™! You can make different types of bars depending on which Cheerios™ you want to use! Today I want to tell you how to make my favorite type - Chocolate Almond Bars!

Ingredients:
2 cups of Cheerios™
1 cup Oats
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cup honey
mini chocolate chips

Put Cheerios™, oats, and sliced almonds into a bowl. In a pot melt butter, brown sugar, and honey until fully dissolved. Once the butter mixture is melted pour over the Cheerios™ mixture and stir until it is fully coated.

In a lightly greased pan put the mixture in. Make sure that it is packed tightly otherwise it will crumble when cooled. Once the mixture is cooled a bit sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top and use a rubber spatula to push them in and make sure the mixture is tightly together. Put in the refrigerator or freezer until cooled. Once they are done cooling slice and enjoy!

As you may have heard, some select boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced over two weeks in July at the Lodi, California plant, have been recalled due to a wheat allergen.  This recall only affects consumers with Celiac disease or a gluten-sensitivity. To learn more about the recall, and if your product is affected please go to: http://blog.generalmills.com/.

Head to Walmart now to look for specially marked boxes of Cheerios™ so that you can gift a box to someone that you care about!

  1. This looks really delicious and I haven't heard about the Give a Box campaign but good to know. Unfortunately I can't eat this unless I substitute the almonds with something else, but what? How about coconut? :)

  2. Isn't it funny the things that remind us of our loved ones? Fried potatoes for breakfast will always remind me of my grandpa who's no longer with us. These cereal bars look delicious, I didn't realize these were so easy! #client
