The Spice Labs Review! -Suzi

I was given the opportunity to review a variety of salts from the company the Spice Labs. In 2009, Brett Cramer became fascinated with the gourmet sea salts. With this decision he got away from technology and began sharing these salts with friends and family. Taking his love of woodworking, some scrap wood, and test tubes, his dream of exotic sea salts from around the world was born. Jennifer, Brett's wife, had always wanted to start a company and taking Brett's creations, the brought us their gourmet gift business, The Spice Labs. They have received numerous awards including the Silver Sofi Award, The Gourmet Retailer's Editors' Choice Award, Scovie and Hot Pepper Awards, 2014 Suppliers Achievement Silver Award for Most Creative New Entry Designed for Business Gift Use, and many more. Continue reading to see more about the company and what I thought of my review sampler I received.

The Spice Lab's offer over 240 different sea salts from all over the globe. They also offer an ever growing line of peppercorns, spices seasoning, rubs and flavored sugars. They also have products such as salt plates, stones, lamps, shot glasses, salt cellars, spoons, jars, and bath salts. You can purchase sea salt collections, that offer you a variety of different salts in one beautiful display. They have Samplers No. 1, No 2, and No 3, Hawaiian Aloha Collection, BBQ Smoked Salts, Chili Head Collection, Large Flake Finishing Salts, The Mixologist, and the Ultimate Gourmet Salt Tasting Kit.

They also offer Gourmet Candied Bacon Rub. These rubs are available in four different blends:

  • Asian Sesame Sweet and Spicy: it's a mix of brown sugar, Asian peppers, sesame seeds, and spices
  • Country Style Pepper: which brings you the mixed tastes of brown sugar, pepper, rosemary, and spices
  • Caribbean Island Jerk: a tropical blend of brown sugar, allspice, chili pepper, and spices
  • New Orleans Cajun: (which I received in my review package) which brings the Cajun flavor to anywhere with its brown sugar, cayenne, paprika, and other spices mix.
These bacon rubs are easy to use and add even more flavoring to yummy bacon! With the bacon rub you simply sprinkle it evenly over your bacon, laid out on a baking sheet with sides, put in the oven and bake. There is no need to turn the bacon, all you do is rotate the baking sheets 180 degrees and switch racks, then continue to bake. I put the rub on and then cooked it on the grill for BLT's, they were absolutely amazing!

You can also purchased flavored sugars, crazy spicy spices (which includes the ghost pepper!), and now they are even offering teas from around the world. These teas come in the same test tube style display as the salts. Each tube is enough to make three pots of tea.

I love these salts and I can't wait to purchase more of the bacon rubs! Thank you Spice Labs for allowing me to review your unique offering of salts!! -Suzi
