It's a Mom Thing Reviews & More!: DIY Sugar Scrub! - Alexandra

DIY Sugar Scrub! - Alexandra

My skin is often very dry but after the long winter that we had in New Jersey my skin was extra dry, especially on my hands, arms, and legs. I tried every lotion that I had in my house but nothing at all was helping. Then I thought of my sugar scrub (which I usually only use in the summer) and decided to give it a try. After a few days of using this scrub in the shower my skin was so hydrated and smooth. Keep reading to learn my recipe for this sugar scrub and my favorite uses of it!

Since it is summertime and many are wearing shorts I wanted to share this sugar scrub recipe with you so that you can make it at home! My absolute favorite time to use this scrub is after shaving my legs. I shave my legs, rinse it off, and then use the sugar scrub, this makes my legs feel amazing! Sometimes after using the sugar scrub I then shave again for extra smooth legs. Using the scrub after shaving helps to remove any dead skin, or leftover residue from shaving and it is magical, haha. I do use this scrub every time that I take a shower though, right after washing, it helps to keep my skin hydrated since I don't always have time to put on lotion. Once you start using this you will never turn back! This recipe is so simple and so inexpensive to make too, which is definitely an added bonus.

1 Cup Sugar
(I use pure cane sugar but you can use granulated or brown sugar)
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoon Honey
(I use local honey but you can use any honey that you have)
1/2 Lemon, juiced
(I used a Meyer Lemon this time since it is what I had on hand, a regular lemon is perfect too)

Step 1: Cut lemon in half and remove the seeds from the half that you are going to use. Squeeze out lemon juice into a bowl.
Step 2: Add coconut oil to the lemon juice.
Step 3: Add honey to the lemon juice and coconut oil and mix them together a bit.
Step 4: Add the lemon juice/coconut oil/honey mixture to your sugar.
Step 5: Blend everything together.

Ta-da! You are done, you now have sugar scrub! How easy was that?!

I put the scrub into a plastic container with a lid so that I can keep it in the bathroom for when I take a shower and so that it doesn't dry out. It usually lasts me about two weeks or so depending on how often I use it and how much I use.

I hope that you love this scrub as much as I do!
